babble(d)

December 2018
Performance as Public Practice Studio Series
directed by Rob Yoho, devised by Alexis Riley and Kristin Perkins

About:

babble(d) is an interactive performance event that explores gender, sexuality, and mental health in conservative religious communities. As the evening begins, audiences take turns pulling bricks from an increasingly-precarious Jenga-style tower, each triggering a new memory played out before the crowd. Performed alongside the adrenaline-inducing uncertainty an ever-weakening structure, babble(d) asks: What does it mean to deconstruct your most intimate beliefs, and what happens when the whole thing (inevitably) collapses?
